Food Dialogue – the combined display of BLL and BVE
Information for consumers from the two leading associations of the German food industry
Berlin, 26 November 2014. From the fields to the plate – the food industry is among the most reliable and efficient sectors of the German economy. Companies representing the food chain provide jobs for 13 per cent of the country’s workforce, who every day supply 80 million consumers with 170,000 different products.
From 16 to 25 January at the International Green Week the two leading associations of the German food industry, the Federal Association of the German Food and Drink Industries (BVE) and the Federation of Food Law and Food Science (BLL), will be participating for the third time under the heading of the ’Food Dialogue’.
The jointly organised combined display of BVE and BLL, which in 2015 is again in Hall 22a, is an important meeting place for consumers, trade visitors, members of politics and the media. The BVE and BLL will be focusing on providing details of the Food Information Regulation which comes into force on 13 December 2014. As a result of this regulation there will be changes to labelling on food packaging: lettering, for instance, must be of a minimum size, and potentially allergenic ingredients must be highlighted. “We want to provide clear information for the consumer“, says Christoph Minhoff, chief executive of both organisations.
Fascinating and informative discussion rounds on other food-related topics will be taking place with experts on a special stage, where every day a cooking display will be preparing selected dishes together with high-ranking guests. As part of the Messe Berlin programme for schools the combined display will also be hosting a quiz on the subject of ’food labelling’ in which schoolchildren and young people can take part.
As the industry partner of the fair, Kellogg Germany will be present on a stand where visitors can sample muesli products BVE is the non-commercial sponsor of the world’s largest trade fair for agriculture, the food industry and horticulture.
