Special Show Grüne Woche | Hall 26a

Historic poster from the first Green Week Berlin in 1926, advertising an exhibition for agriculture and related industries, held at the exhibition halls at Kaiserdamm in Berlin.

This is where the history of Grüne Woche comes to life. Historic tractors, traditional horse-drawn carriages and authentic craftsmanship bring the development of agriculture and the food industry to life.

An impressive time-lapse exhibition on 200 years of horticultural education spans the arc from the early days to the present. Right at the heart of the action, the Messerschmidt cooperage demonstrates its craft – a vibrant journey through time where tradition and the modern Grüne Woche meet.

Photo Spots Across the Grüne Woche Exhibition Grounds

To mark the anniversary year, many Grüne Woche exhibitors have created special photo spots throughout the entire exhibition grounds. These creative installations accompany visitors through different halls and add an experiential layer to the Grüne Woche visit.

Whether inside a tractor tyre, in front of a large wine barrel or at other striking settings, the photo spots invite visitors to capture memorable moments from the Grüne Woche. All photo spots are accessible throughout the full duration of the event and are spread across the exhibition grounds.

A joint photo spot by the Grüne Woche and the German Forestry Council can be found in hall 27. Additional photo opportunities are located at participating exhibitors in several halls, including the special exhibition hall 26a. #100JahreGrüneWoche

A century of Grüne Woche: from the beginnings to the present day

The history of Grüne Woche began in February 1926 when the first edition opened its doors. What started as a local event with 50,000 visitors on 7,000 square meters has evolved into a global event that annually attracts hundreds of thousands of guests and thousands of exhibitors from around the world.

Over the decades, Grüne Woche has overcome numerous challenges and continuously evolved.

  • 1926-1939: The early years were characterized by rapid growth and increasing importance for the agricultural sector.
  • 1948: After a wartime hiatus, the fair celebrated its comeback and established itself as an important platform for international exchange.
  • 1990s: With German reunification and the opening of the Eastern Bloc, the Grüne Woche experienced a particular upswing.
  • 2000s to present: The fair has evolved into a dialogue platform for key future issues in global agriculture and food industries, focusing on topics such as climate protection, circular economy, and sustainable land use.
