Lots of new things in the east

From creative metropolises to rural delights, guests at Grüne Woche will find a wide variety of offerings from East German exhibitors.

Fancy some innovation? Then head to eastern Germany! Food startups from Berlin, agricultural research from Brandenburg, AI vending machines from Saxony, and an electric carriage from Thuringia are just a few examples of the lively spirit of research in the eastern federal states. Refreshments are provided by ostrich bratwurst from Saxony-Anhalt with Secconade sausage from the Altmark region.

Berlin: New food trends from the capital

Young, cosmopolitan, and creative, Berlin is not only hosting Grüne Woche, but also offering much more space in Hall 22a. The capital's innovative strength is particularly evident on the “Startup Island.” It offers young, innovative companies a platform to present their sustainable products. The “Kantine Zukunft” (Canteen of the Future) project, which promotes fresh regional ingredients in communal catering, is also being presented. It shows how Berlin is putting innovative solutions for promoting a sustainable food industry into practice. The Berlin Food Strategy stand also focuses on sustainable, health-promoting foods.

Brandenburg: Discover and participate

In addition to traditional brands and products such as Beelitz asparagus, Spreewald gherkins, and sausage specialties, exhibitors in Hall 21a invite visitors to the Brandenburg Hall with creative ideas for the 100th anniversary of Grüne Woche. Brandenburg agricultural research, young companies, and new exhibitors showcase the innovative and economic power of the Mark Brandenburg's natural and cultural landscape. It's all about testing, networking, and showing off. Brandenburg will continue to be a must-see destination for connoisseurs and explorers in 2026!

Saxony: AI meets kiwi berries

Visitors to Hall 21b can embark on a delightful journey to Saxony. In addition to traditional products such as coffee, beer, and wine, they can expect kiwi berry fruit spreads and mulled wine tastings “in Saxony.” The tart fruit tastes like a mixture of kiwi and gooseberry. For those who prefer savory fare, an AI-supported, intelligent vending machine delivers pasta creations with tasty sauces. Whether sweet or salty, smoked or fresh – there is something for every taste. And visitors can learn first-hand from the Saxon tourism regions where the most beautiful places in the Free State are located.

Saxony-Anhalt: Stars on the green carpet

When the Oscar nominations are announced on January 22, 2026, exhibitors from Saxony-Anhalt will be tempting visitors to Hall 23b with catering that whets the appetite for the awards ceremony in March: a hand-made soup from the Altmark region as a starter, followed by an ostrich bratwurst combining a light sweetness with a coarse grain. This is followed by vegan ice cream that steals the show from every other dessert. Here, finely processed cocoa meets a specially developed flaxseed paste. The final decision is a difficult one: would you prefer a “Secconade” at the after-party or another detour to the eggnog bar? And the insider tip for all movie fans: colorful popcorn!

Thuringia: Surprises from the heart of Germany

The federal state presents itself as the green heart of Germany under the motto “Thuringia surprises – 100 years of Grüne Woche.” At this special Grüne Woche, Thuringia wants to showcase not only traditional products such as bratwurst, dumplings, and beer, but also specialties that are not immediately associated with Thuringia. Here are just a few examples to whet your appetite: Thuringian wild mushrooms (truffles) as a small snack or watercress from Erfurt, quail aspic, slush cocktails with regional juices, or the Hex Erlebniswelt (witch experience world) with the world's largest broom. An electric carriage, an innovative LEADER project, can be found in the entrance area of Hall 20. Unusual accommodation options and 100 (un)known events in Thuringia will also whet your appetite for a trip to Thuringia.
