The 89th edition of Grüne Woche kicks off today at 6 p.m. with the opening event in the CityCube Berlin! The final stand construction work is currently taking place in the exhibition halls, but in terms of agricultural policy we already started yesterday.

On the press side, Grüne Woche began yesterday with the opening press conference. Guests included Joachim Rukwied, President of the German Farmers' Association, Christoph Minhoff, Managing Director of the Federation of German Food and Drink Industries (BVE) and Dr. Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin GmbH, who discussed the current situation in the agricultural and food industry and reported on facts and figures for the upcoming Grüne Woche.

At the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in Hall 7.2c, the focus is on food security. Here, visitors can experience what global solutions to hunger can look like. One example is insects such as crickets or grasshoppers. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture in Hall 23a provides information on biodiversity, climate protection, healthy nutrition and sustainable animal husbandry. In a larger organic hall (22a), visitors can discover the diversity of organic products.

From January 15 - 18, the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) will take place parallel to Grüne Woche. This years motto: ''Farming a Sustainable Bioeconomy''. The official opening of the GFFA will take place from 2:00 p.m .- 3:30 p.m. in the CityCube Berlin on the exhibition grounds and will also be available via a stream.
