Flower splendour and the Golden Twenties (Hall 2.2a)
The tour begins with a journey into the past: the flower hall transports visitors back to the Golden Twenties. Under the motto ‘Babylon Berlin’, visitors to the fair can expect nostalgic façades, elegant details and lovingly arranged flowers that make the grey Berlin winter fade into the background for a moment. A special highlight is KaDeFleur – a detailed department store designed in the style of the 1920s. Several times a day, there is also dancing in the flower hall to bring the feeling of the decade to life.
Culinary and floral anniversary greetings from the Netherlands (Hall 18)
The tour continues to the north of the exhibition grounds to the Netherlands. Along the way, visitors should keep an eye out for our limited edition anniversary products, such as cucumber soda, mare's milk hand cream and organic cucumber and lemon ice lollies. These can be recognised by their golden anniversary sticker. Numerous photo points throughout the grounds also invite visitors to capture special moments – for example, in a tractor tyre, in front of a large wine barrel or against unusual backdrops.
In Hall 18, the Netherlands, the very first international exhibitor at Grüne Woche is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Here you can discover traditional specialities and gain insights into the food, agriculture and forestry industries of our neighbouring country. A culinary detour is also worthwhile in the street food hall 6.2 and in Hall 8.2, where Dutch classics such as poffertjes, stroopwafel liqueur and crispy chips with cheese sauce await.
Historical agriculture up close (Hall 26a)
Hall 26a forms the heart of the anniversary celebrations: here, visitors can not only see the history of the Grüne Woche and thus also of agriculture, but experience it up close: historical agricultural vehicles such as carriages and the ‘Fordson Bj. 1926’ wheel tractor meet modern high-tech machines, illustrating the rapid industrialisation of agriculture. Insights into old craftsmanship are provided by, among others, the Messerschmidt cooperage, which will be demonstrating how wooden barrels are made on site. The exhibition is complemented by a timeline that vividly summarises the development of Grüne Woche in Berlin over the last 100 years.
Welcome to our partner Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Hall 5.2b)
In Hall 5.2b, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is not only a real visitor magnet every year, but this time also the official partner of the Grüne Woche. On its 100th anniversary, the federal state is represented for the 25th time and impressively demonstrates why it is one of Germany's most important agricultural and culinary regions. In addition to classic specialities, the mulled wine bread developed especially for the fair is particularly appealing, with its spicy aroma whetting the appetite for more. Regional specialities, innovative businesses, music and culture invite visitors to engage in conversation with our neighbours from the north.
Women in agriculture (Hall 3.2)
A glimpse into the future takes us to Hall 3.2, where the UN Year of Women in Agriculture takes centre stage. The focus is on the central role of women in businesses, consulting, science, education and politics. Discussion formats and stage programmes focus on new role models and issues of equality. They also show the contribution women have made, are making and will make to the agricultural sector.
A responsible future – the ZERO theme island (Hall 27)
The tour concludes in Hall 27 at the ZERO theme island – a hotspot for innovation and sustainability. Exciting ideas await here: from vegan products such as vegan organic glasses to original approaches to animal welfare and environmental protection. Here, it quickly becomes clear that sustainability can be creative, modern and surprisingly versatile.
The Grüne Woche anniversary tour shows that we are looking back on 100 years of agricultural development, historical significance and culinary classics, and looking ahead to innovations in agriculture, unusual ideas for tomorrow and all the people who are already supporting them today and will continue to do so in the future.
