IGW Spotlights: Transformation of agriculture and food industry only succeeds together
Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir in a talk with Dr. Christian von Boetticher (BDE), Joachim Rukwied (German Farmers' Association) and Martin Ecknig (Messe Berlin).
What does the future taste like? This question was discussed on January 20 by the new Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, Cem Özdemir, with stakeholders from the agricultural and food industry. The talk took place on January 20 as part of the IGW Spotlights. The focus was on how to shape the transformation of the agricultural and food industry.
Cem Özdemir, Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, pointed out the importance of trade fairs such as IGW to make the transformation towards more animal welfare as well as environmental and climate protection tangible for consumers. The panelists stressed the importance of an open dialogue between all stakeholders from the agricultural and food industries and politics: only together can the transformation process succeed.
At the end of the discussion, Martin Ecknig, CEO of Messe Berlin GmbH, invited all stakeholders to continue the dialogue at the International Green Week.
"We are in an environment that requires explanation. Transformation creates a need for communication and we are the platform for that. We also give consumers a place where they can actively participate in this discussion."
The next International Green Week will be held Jan. 20-29, 2023, at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds.
