FairCup makes a sustainable lifestyle easier

FairCup has been the pioneer in reusable packaging for years. It is the first deposit-compatible packaging system in Germany. The product range includes flexible reusable cups and reusable lids for the To Go sector. "The product idea came about in 2016 as part of a student project by a 13th-grade graduating class. At the time, the Fridays for Future movement was very present in the media and almost every one of my students came to class in the morning with a coffee to go cup. We simply linked the topics," explains Sibylle Meyer, teacher and now Managing Director of FairCup GmbH.

Unique design ensures suitability for vending machines

What is special about the FairCup is that despite its individual shape, it is suitable for vending machines and can therefore be easily reused. "The shape corresponds to the function and not the appearance. We didn't just look at the coffee to go, we wanted to design a holistic concept where user convenience is met. That's our core business," Meyer emphasizes. This is how FairCup came into being - the only sustainable cup of its kind that is deposit-compatible and has been awarded the "Blue Angel" eco-label.

Available nationwide from February 2023

Following a successful test phase in selected regional and national supermarkets and weekly markets as well as clinics, canteens, schools and kiosks, FairCup will be available in all Kaufland stores throughout Germany from February 1, 2023. "This is where they come into their own at the fresh food counters. You can conveniently have your salad, antipasti, cream cheese or olives filled in the cups." They are returned via the Kaufland deposit machines. This saves detours and is easy to integrate into consumers' everyday lives. "Our packaging products are well on the way to being used like the deposit bottle. The Reusable Packaging Act supports us in this. Our long-term goal is for the deposit machines of all supermarkets worldwide to be enabled for our products."

Those who would like to get to know the FairCup will find it at the International Green Week in hall hub27 from January 20 to 29, 2023.

In addition to reusable cups, the Göttingen-based company also offers reusable to-go packaging for restaurants and cafés.
